Think Happy Thoughts!

One of my favorite books of all time is The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success by Deepak Chopra.

The first spiritual law of success is THE LAW OF PURE POTENTIALITY. One of the steps talks about judgement.

“Today I shall judge nothing that occurs, and throughout the day I will remind myself not to judge” - Deepak Chopra

The exercise for this law, is to start your day with no negative thought or judgement around yourself and others.

It is incredible just how challenging it is for most of us. I actually use this technique with my clients, I ask them to look at themselves in the mirror without judgment and tell me what they see. It might be easy to say some positive things about oneself in the moment, but then actually when I ask them to move or speak or take them out of the moment, it doesn’t take long for the negative judgment to creep in. Usually what comes first is a criticism of the physical appearance, “I don’t like my butt, I do not have a strong upper body, I can’t jump rope that long” (you get the idea.)

This is then followed by the “why am I not seeing results? Am I the only one who can’t do this?” And then finally “oh sorry to put you through this, I bet this is so easy for you”

All of this judgment and negative self-talk, is happening within the first 30 minutes.

I don’t know about you, but I find this exhausting and unproductive. How is anyone supposed to thrive and achieve when these thoughts are running through their head?

This is not any easy fix, this takes time and commitment. You must try to rewire your brain to think happy thoughts rather than negative.

Choose the light rather than the doom and gloom.

So I ask you today, to try out this theory. Start your day with positive thought and no judgment. See how long it takes before you criticize something or someone. If it is an hour, can you make it to two hours’ tomorrow? Three hours the next day. Slowly piece by piece you are making a positive change around the way you think about yourself and the situations you are in.

Remember you are in control of how you react and respond to things, you are in control of your own thoughts.

Write it down in your journal and reflect back on what you discovered. I would love for you to share them with me. xx
